A Note From Let Spirit Lead’s Founder, Felicia Brown

Welcome to Let Spirit Lead, a beacon of hope and innovation in the realm of community development and affordable housing. As the Founder, CEO, and Executive Director of this passionate 501c3 nonprofit organization, I am thrilled to embark on this journey with you, guided by a mission to revolutionize how we approach community upliftment through coaching, consulting, and above all, action.

Why do we do what we do? Simon Sinek encouraged us to start with “why?” and it’s a question that resonates deeply with our mission. The crux of thriving, sustainable communities lies in addressing the housing crisis—a fundamental necessity for every individual. Why should you care? Because the ripple effects of inadequate housing touch us all, whether through the heart or the pocketbook. Our strategy focuses on two pivotal areas: securing the necessary resources to enhance housing supply and preparing community members to achieve and maintain housing stability.

My personal journey and “why” are deeply rooted in the desire to create affordable housing within resilient, sustainable communities. My life’s story, set against the backdrop of the Inland Empire region of Southern California, where I was born, raised, and continue to live, underscores the transformative power of housing stability. This personal experience fuels my commitment to bridging the wealth gap, particularly the racial wealth gap, by empowering community members and development professionals alike.

Many Americans face a stark reality where housing is their most significant expense or investment. Unfortunately, the odds are disproportionately stacked against certain community members, many of whom share my background. It’s not just about providing affordable housing; it’s about leveling the playing field for those working tirelessly to build these communities with limited resources. My journey, marked by challenges in finding housing stability and dedicating my life to equitable community development, underscores the critical need for coaching and support.

Let Spirit Lead was conceived as a platform for collaboration among community partners, aimed at developing thriving communities and increasing the affordable housing supply. We also focus on preparing community members to take advantage of housing opportunities, ensuring they’re ready when the right home becomes available.

I share my story, hoping to connect with partners who share our vision of addressing equity and community development—the two most pressing social issues of our time. Achieving our goals requires concerted efforts from stakeholders at all levels, fostering communication, investment, and harmonious execution.

Together, we can create a future where everyone has access to affordable, stable housing in communities that flourish. I invite you to join us at Let Spirit Lead as we work toward this vision, inspired by love, driven by justice, and guided by spirituality.

With heartfelt gratitude and optimism,

Felicia Brown
